Chinese Crested
Coat
There are two very different varieties of the Chinese Crested, one is Powderpuff having a long coat, the other is Hairless having long hair on the feet and head. The Powderpuff does need extensive grooming, however the Hairless requires minimal hair care.
Overview
A very popular breed, the Chinese Crested is sweet, lively and affectionate. Both varieties vary in outer characteristics, but have similar personalities. An intelligent and entertaining dog, the Chinese Crested loves to climb and dig holes. The hairless does best in warmer climates, while the Powderpuff is partial to both.
Character
Rarely barking or nipping, this dog is well mannered and cheerful, although he can be wary of strangers. The Chinese Crested makes a good companion animal, and is always there to cheer you up. The breed does well in obedience classes and is willing to please his owner.
Temperament
A devoted family member, the Chinese Crested is gentle and playful. It does exceptionally well with children and other animals and is a well-adjusted breed. Very alert, highly intelligent, this dog is also prone to timidity and should be socialized both during puppy and adulthood.
